Piano stool upcycle makeover , shabby chic

 

This piano stool was the right price and had potential.  

A vintage stool.  It has seen better days.  It needed to be recovered and painted.  I like the size a great place to stack books, drop your purse or with a tray a resting spot for a plant.

I removed the top and the Naugahyde cover off of it.  I found a Waverly curtain panel at the good will for two bucks.

This will make the perfect cover.  

I cut the curtain to fit added some batting for a little extra padding and grabbed the stapler.

  One leg was damaged on the bottom so I sanded it level and put a furniture leg pad on it to prevent a wabble.  

The base I sanded and painted with Dixie Belle mud puddle paint color, distressed, applied clear wax then dark to age it. 

The color Mud Puddle has mauve to pink undertones to it and matched the rose fabric perfectly.

She is priced and will go to Vintage Collections in Camden SC on June 6th

Now if I could have this much fun pulling weeds out of the sidewalk.

Bread Box Upcycle

 Fyodor Dostoevsky once said "There is not a thing that is more positive than bread" It is an essential in most lunch boxes and kitchens but where do you store it?  A bread Box of course!

I love a bread box upcycle a satisfying quick project!

I think this is an Ikea Bread Box sturdy but made with cheap material and well, Plain.

After a Good sanding I painted with Dixie Bell Collard Greens sanding between coats.  

I love Iron Orchid Designs products especially there Stamp collections.  I choose their Type Setting two sheet letter set for the wording.  Sanded and distressed lightly then applied clear and dark wax and put the original pull back on it. 

A nice hiding spot for your bread!

Vintage Shabby Chic suitcase upcycle

 

You can find these suitcases fairly inexpensive and although they make great storage alternatives and decor a little paint and some rub-ons never hurt any body! 

A little worse for the wear and these suitcases are still fairly sturdy . A good Cleaning and spray paint (white primer) on the out side to get started. I did not tape off latches or hinges it all got a coat of paint.  I also removed the interior silk it was pretty dry rotted. I did not get that on camera but it is self explanatory.  Make sure you get as much of the loose padding out so that your decoupage interior will be some what smooth.

I chose IODS transfer "Joie Des Roses" for the exterior.  I rubbed it directly on to the primer paint, sanded a few edges and latches to distress it and then sealed the whole suit case with matte clear coat and let it dry for hours before handling it.  The interior was covered roughly with sheet music using matte Mod Podge.  I did not worry about wrinkles just made sure all of the surface was covered.  

It had a vintage unused luggage tag attached and I cleaned it up and put if back on it matches the colors in the transfers.

She is ready to be decor with storge or just decor.  I guess you could use it but not sure how well the rub on would hold up to travel.
