Lovely although outdated small table face lift. Dixie Bell with IOD rub ons chalk paint Before and after

At a recent yard sale that I was participating in, I bartered  with a friend for this sweet little table.  The perfect size for my dining room .  However the color and wood tone was not.

I first gave it a good clean and a wipe down with liquid sandpaper to knock some of the shine off of it.  A light sanding with 220 grit sand paper or a sanding sponge will do the trick as well.  After getting the dust off of it I applied three coats of Dixie Bell in the color "Mud Puddle"

After the final and third coat I sanded and distressed the little table lightly. I also made sure all of the dust was wiped away.
I wanted something different on the top and I have a few IOD rub ons and choose this fox design in the Gilded gold.

It was also the perfect fit!

I regretted my second choice  of applying this rub on straight on to Dixie Belle chalk paint instead of putting a Top coat on like Big top or Dixie belle top coat (not wax, wax contains oils and rub ons will not stick to a waxed surface).  I had to apply so much pressure to get the gold rub on to stick I actually lifted paint off in places.  Hind site is 20/20.

Since I had distressed the table I was not to worried about the chipped paint.  I applied clear wax and while it was still wet applied a dark wax to give the table a little depth.  I have also mixed dark and clear wax to get similar results.

I am not sure if I like the pulls but for  now it is just the size I need in the dining room and the color really gives it a fun vibe.

I hope you are finding inspiration to add something, you put your stamp on, to your Home.
Lots of Love,
Sheryl
