fun out door lighting..Chandelier conversion to out door solar light

I had walked by this light fixture a few times at the local Bargain Basket Thrift Store and finally bought it when I noticed it was 90% off making it a buck fifty.  Who can pass that up?  Right?  So it has hung in the woman cave for a while on the back wall until this spring.  I decided to convert it to a outdoor Chandy.  It was a fun and educating project....

The results I think are pretty cool.

Yep those are .97 cent solar lights that you can pick up at most Walmarts..My least favorite place to be....Here are the rest of the tools that you will need....Spray paint ...I recommend something suited for outdoors....Dremel with cutting wheel...You can read about this tool Here...glue gun...pliers that will cut wire...and heavier duty ones that can remove the chain.

I removed the inner light bulb holders with the dremel  , cut the wire on the bottom...and removed the long wire with plug ....and spray painted with Valspar ....I applied three thin coats making sure it was dry between coats.  Then used the dremel to modify the bottoms of the stakes to fit in to the holes at the center of each arm.  I applied a big glob of hot glue in the centers of the arms to ensure that the lights were tight.  I did not go in to a lot of detail on the instructions because your fixture may be different and a different approach may make the project easier.  However I hope that you do get the "Just".  This is a really great cheap project that is unique and fun ...Hint..Mental note...I do have to remove mine from under the Pergola to a sunnier location to charge.  The solar lights do not charge well in the shade.

Kitchen Stool make over..metal step stool

I have to admit these up cycles are Fun .  The first one you can see here. This  actually was my grandmother's stool.  My parents had stored it in a building, that they kept the pool chemicals in, and major rust had set in.

I took some steel wool to the chrome on this item and, figured out real quickly, that I do not have the elbow grease nor the ambition to clean it all up.  So I resorted to old faithful "Rustoleum".  The color I am attached to now is Oil Rubbed Bronze not only is it a fantastic color but the coverage is awesome.  I also had a stash of remnants that were on sale for 50% off at Jo Ann's and found a perfect cheap match.

The end results!

A fab. Kitchen step stool!

The fabric is the perfect color!

The paint has disguised the rust.

Even from the side this one looks good!

Burlap and wine labels Metal Kitchen stool make over

This was too good  a deal to pass up at a yard sale.  Little white kitchen stool that had the slide out step attachment broke off.

It was in okay shape had a nick in the corner of the vinyl cover so it had to be recovered.  Handy Hubby also drilled out the rivets that were holding the foot bracket on and put screws in the holes they were painted over and look fine.  I had picked up some burlap at Jo Ann's and used my 60% off coupon that came in the mail as well as a 15% off your total order that was on my smart phone.  (that adds up to 75% off the fabric)   Jo Ann's will use more than one coupon as long as it is from another source.  ( Smart Phone, Text or mailer)

The white color of the stool was too bright for the burlap so I gave it a light coat of Almond by Ace.  So easy!  This was a quick project.  The seat and back come off so that you can cover them and slide them back on ( I was almost disappointed I had the 221 out and ready you can read about Her here) ..I like the results. Talk about instant gratification.
