I will openly admit that I am not an candidate for the upholstery industry! I covered wrestled this bench for several days to get the old off and half a day to get the new on. I like the way it turned out but boy am I bushed!
I found this item at the Goodwill and the first time I spotted it , it was too expensive for the work that had to go into it. I left it with a little regret it has great lines and legs. I went back by on a whim that it may still be there and it was marked down 10 dollars. I could afford it and justify the work, that it would take, by it being cheap.
Here are the befores:
Yep pretty gnarly!
The afters:
Not bad...well ignore the dog hair ..I GIVE UP!
This was a lengthy project but well worth it. I would like to tell you how I did it but I just grabbed it and growled. The fabric is a curtian and the legs were done with Southern Honey Jackson black chalk paint with Annie Sloan clear wax and distressing to finish them off.
Hope this post finds you warm!
Sheryl

Hi Sheryl,
ReplyDeleteI'm loving this bench! Sometimes the hardest projects are the ones we're most proud of, don't you think? This is lovely and would be versatile enough to go in almost any room!
Visiting from Silver Pennies today. Have a great Sunday!

ReplyDeleteBabs thank you so much...for the kind words and the visit....Hope you are having a good one....Sheryl
DeleteSo glad you got it for a cheaper price. I love it when that happens! They were saving it for you! Upholstery can be hard, and your piece turned out perfect. Thank you so much for sharing your project at Redouxinteriors!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the kind words...and you are right it can be a tough job especially when you do not have the right tools....My electric stapler was bearly enough to set the staples. I see an investment in a pnuematic stapler if I intend to keep this up. It was fun and the results were well worth it...Thank you for your time to have a the link party...I also enjoy your post...Look forward to seeing what you are up to! Sheryl
DeleteI was expecting to see step-by-step pictures and explanations of how you got off the old fabric and measured and put on the new fabric. I think the finished product is stunning, but I need to see some hands-on photos to figure out how you got there.
ReplyDeleteI would love to provide you with step by step how to photos I could use them my self. This was a project that I had to work on when I could and just did not take the time to take photos until I was done. The fabric I just pulled off with a tack puller ( you can find them in the uphostery section of Joanns) The bench was old the wood was hard and it took a lot of effort to remove it. with out damaging the wood. The fabric I folded in half marking the center found the center of the bench and started stapling it on one side straight ..then moving to the other side and working my way down the bench...I had to stop so many times with this project That is best I can give you . However I will take your comment to heart and the next one I "redo"I will be sure to take photos and try to give better instructions....Thank you for stopping by and for the Lovely comments.
