Coffee Beans to Coffee Bar Coffee burlap bag art

Handy Hubby and I completed a long awaited project over spring break.  We installed a 6 foot counter with open shelving with the vision of it functioning as a coffee, hot beverage station and storage.
I will in another post go over the cost and some WOW products that we used to accomplish this project with a very tight budget.  However now I want to share with you some easy burlap artwork.

We begin with 11 x 14 inch canvas that I found at a local flea for 10 cents, and it was new.  However you can recycle any canvas just make sure you can hot glue to it and the design does not show through the material you are adding to it.
I gathered my burlap coffee bag , a pair of sharp scissors (that you need to dedicate to coffee burlap it is a rough fabric and will dull scissors), Glue gun with glue sticks and any interesting hardware you may want to add.
Choose your design and how you want it to display on your canvas.  Cut it larger than you need it to give your self room for error and shifting your final design if you need to. Once you have it figured out ..glue the  edges to the back pulling tight enough to prevent sagging but not so tight as to distort your design.  Cut away the excess fabric.
Miter your corners and trim away excess so that the corners are flat and clean looking.
Now go break out all that stuff you kept because it was...well interesting and have fun.  The items I used were old furniture hardware and some interesting designs that Idea-ology offers in the Scrap book department of Joann's.  I attached all the hardware with Hot glue.
And I have to say I was lucky it seems to be the right size and look I wanted.
Hope the Easter Bunny has you on his to do list.
Happy Easter!
Sheryl

  2. Neat coffee bag art piece. I sometimes use dull scissors to cut pieces of tin foil and it seems to sharpen them.
